Weyerhaeuser (NYSE:WY), a Seattle, US-based manufacturer of cellulose, fiber, and timber products, plans to analyze strategic alternatives for its timberland and manufacturing operations in Uruguay, including a potential sale, announced the company in a press release issued on 12 October 2016.

Specifically, Weyerhaeuser President and CEO Doyle R. Simons noted that, following the merger with Plum Creek, a Seattle-based timberland manager, the company is seeking strategic alternatives for its Uruguayan operations to improve their position for long-term success and provide greater value for shareholders, which includes a potential sale.

In Uruguay, Weyerhaeuser operates 120,000 hectares of timberland in the northeast and center-north of the country, as well as plywood and veneer manufacturing facilities, a cogeneration plant, and a seedling nursery.

En concreto, el presidente y CEO de Weyerhaeuser, Doyle R. Simons, ha señalado que, tras la fusión con Plum Creek, empresa maderera con sede en Seattle, la empresa busca alternativas estratégicas para las operaciones uruguayas para brindarles una mejor posición para su éxito a largo plazo y ofrecer mayor valor para sus accionistas, entres las que se encuentra una posible venta.

En Uruguay, Weyerhaeuser opera 120.000 hectáreas de bosques madereros en el noreste y centro-norte del país, además de instalaciones de fabricación de contrachapado y revestimientos, una planta de cogeneración y un semillero.
