Vale - Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (BVMF:VALE3, VALE5; NYSE:VALE; HKG:6210), a Brazilian mining company, registered a profit of BRL 6.3bn in the first quarter of 2016, compared with BRL 9.35bn in losses registered in the same period last year, as reported by the company on 28 April 2016.

Another highlight was the cash flow generation, which was USD 2bn, a 44% increase compared with the fourth quarter 2015.

"The first quarter was auspicious, regarding the most interesting aspect, cash flow generation. We had an excellent performance. Even in a seasonally weaker quarter in terms of sales, we registered these figures through production records", said Luciano Siani Pires, the company's Chief Officer of Finance and Investors Relations.

Outro destaque foi a geração de caixa, que fechou em USD 2bi, acréscimo de 44% em relação ao quarto trimestre de 2015.

“O primeiro trimestre foi auspicioso. Na medida em que mais interessa, a geração de caixa, tivemos um excelente desempenho. Mesmo em um trimestre sazonalmente mais fraco em termos de vendas, conseguimos esse resultado através de recordes de produção”, afirma o Diretor-Executivo de Finanças e Relações com Investidores, Luciano Siani Pires.
