Uruguay-based Union and Oil Group, a subsidiary of Union Group, signed a strategic agreement with Uruguay-based Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland (ANCAP) to carry out oil explorations in the Caribbean islands, as reported by newspaper El País on 18 June 2015. The objective is for Union Oil Group to finance 1005 of the investments needed to develop exploration projects, and for ANCAP to take care of the operational activities. The first approach was Jamaica, which has oil generation proof and is open to foreign investment.

La empresa petrolera uruguaya Union and Oil Group, filial de Union Group, ha firmado un acuerdo estratégico con la también uruguaya Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland (ANCAP) para llevar a cabo exploraciones de hidrocarburos en la zona del Caribe, según ha informado el diario El País el 18 de junio de 2015. La idea del acuerdo es que Union and Oil Group financie el 100% de las inversiones que se necesiten para el desarrollo de los proyectos exploratorios y que ANCAP se encargue de la parte operativa. El primer acercamiento ha sido a Jamaica, que tiene pruebas de generación de petróleo y que está abriendo sus puertas a inversiones extranjeras. |
