At least twelve companies will not acquire Novo Banco because they were BES' shareholders. These are: Goldman Sachs, PT - Portugal Telecom, Crédit Agricole, Bespar, Bradport, Baros, BlackRock, D.E. Shaw, Baupost Group, Capital Research and Management Company, Silchester International Investors and Wellington Management Company. They are all barred. Potential buyers cannot have been qualified shareholders of BES (with a stake superior or equal to 2%), in the two years prior to the creation of Novo Banco. This is one of the pre-qualification prerequisites for those interested in acquiring the bank, which inherited the healthy assets and liabilities of Banco Espírito Santo.
