Turner, an Atlanta, Georgia-based media holding, may be finalizing the acquisition of Telefé, an Argentine TV channel, from Spain-based Telefónica (BME:TEF) and could announce the transaction at the end of October 2016, reported El Cronista on 14 September 2016, citing sources connected to the companies and the Argentine government.

According to the report, the companies will announce the transaction, worth between USD 300m and USD 500m, on 28 or 29 October, and includes nine TV channels Telefónica operates under the Telefé brand. However, the acquisition would not include the business of transmitting the local football tournaments.

Turner is said to have surpassed companies such as US-based Viacom (NYSE:VIA) and Venezuela-based Organización Cisneros in the sale process, the report stated.

Según lo publicado, las empresas anunciarán la transacción, valuada en USD 300m a USD 500m, entre el 28 o 29 de octubre, e incluye nueve canales que Telefónica opera bajo la marca Telefé. No obstante, la adquisición no incluiría el negocio de transmisión del fútbol local.
