Intel ID : 229007
Synopsis

Brazil-based Seculus, a watch manufacturer headquartered in Manaus, takes a second step towards its entry plans in fashion accessories, as published by newspaper Valor Econômico on 4 September 2015, citing its President, Alexandre Azevedo .

Two year ago, Seculus began planning its entry in this new segment launching a handbag line named Mondaine. The company will now distribute watches and semi precious jewels, by Calvin Klein Jewelery, in Brazil through a contract with Switzerland-based Watch Group (SIX: UHR).

Seculus also closed an exclusivity deal with Austria-based Swarovsky to distribute semi precious jewelery and watches in Brazilian jewelers and watch stores, according to its President.

Regarding this segment change, Azevedo said, "The idea is to become a fashion accessories business and not a watch company. The public knows it is still a watch company, but in the future we want to be fashion accessories distributors and management company." He aded, "We have changed our ideology. Our ideology today is no longer focused on watches, but on fashion accessories. We started with handbags, and now we will enter the jewelry segment, and later will analyze other segments tied to fashion accessories to expand".

Among these new segments, the company could consider the glasses, cosmetics, as well as wallets and belts segments. Furthermore, the company does not ruled out acquisitions in these segments.
