O Novo Banco, banco de transição criado pelo Banco de Portugal em agosto de 2014 como consequência de uma intervenção no Banco Espírito Santo (BES), poderá ser nacionalizado, segundo publicou o Jornal de Negócios em 30 de março de 2016, citando um dossiê sobre Novo Banco.

De acordo com a notícia, o Executivo tomará uma decisão perante as alternativas, respeitando, porém, algumas regras. Tem de ser a melhor solução para os contribuintes que garanta a estabilidade do sistema financeiro, sendo deste modo a nacionalização umas das possíveis soluções.
