Synopsis |
The Pescarmona family, the founders and majority shareholders of IMPSA - Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona (BCBA:INPE), are said to have proposed selling control of the company to pay off a USD 1.13bn debt to its creditors, reported El Cronista on 6 February 2017, citing IMPSA sources. According to the report, the Pescarmonas proposed retaining a financial advisor to carry out the sale, which would leave the family outside IMPSA's board and with a minority stake of 35%. The remaining 65% would be put into a trust for the benefit of the creditors. Some of the potentially interested bidders would be financial institutions Banco Bradesco (BVMF:BBDC3, BBDC4; NYSE:BBD, BBDO) and BNDES, based in Brazil, the IADB - Inter-American Development Bank, and Banco Nación and Grupo Banco Provincia, based in Argentina, the report stated. IMPSA, based in Mendoza, Argentina, is a manufacturer of materials and products for the renewable energy sector.
