Odebrecht, a Salvador, Brazil-based construction and petrochemical company, canceled the concession and partnership contract for the construction of the Changuinola II hydroelectric project in Panama, reported La Prensa on 3 February 2017, citing Panama Finance Minister Dulcidio De La Guardia. Specifically, De La Guardia noted the government already presented Odebrecht with the document to cancel the contract and added talks will soon begin to agree on the terms of its termination. This is the second project Odebrecht has exited in Panama this week, following the withdrawal of a bid for the construction of a bridge over the Panama Canal (see related intel).

Odebrecht, empresa constructora y petroquímica con sede en Salvador, Brasil, ha cancelado la concesión y el contrato de asociación para la construcción del proyecto hidroeléctrico Changuinola II en Panamá, ha publicado La Prensa el 3 de febrero de 2017, citando al ministro de Economía y Finanzas panameño, Dulcidio De La Guardia. En concreto, De La Guardia ha señalado que el gobierno ya le ha entregado el documento de cancelación de contrato a Odebrecht y ha añadido que pronto comenzarán las negociaciones para acordar su terminación. Este es el segundo proyecto que abandona Odebrecht en Panamá esta semana, tras retirar una oferta para la construcción de un puente sobre el Canal de Panamá (ver intel relacionado). |
