Synopsis

President of South Korea, Park Geun-hye, and President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, signed an economic cooperation agreement, as reported by newspaper El Financiero on 4 April 2016.

Specifically, the two governments have signed 17 memorandums of understanding aiming to strengthen bilateral economic relationship in the energy, technology, police cooperation, telemedicine, tourism and security segments, which increases Korea's interest in creating a FTA with Mexico (see related Intel).

Through this agreement, there will be two new credit lines between the two countries: one of USD 1bn, to develop electricity infrastructure; and another of USD 200m, to finance Mexican companies that maintain relations with Korean firms.

La presidenta de Corea del Sur, Park Geun-huye, y el presidente de México, Enrique Peña Nieto, han suscrito un acuerdo de cooperación económica, según ha informado El Financiero el 4 de abril de 2016.

En concreto, los dos gobiernos han firmado 17 memorandos de entendimiento con el objetivo de fortalecer la relación económica bilateral en materia de energía, tecnología, cooperación policial, telemedicina, turismo y seguridad, lo cual fortalece el interés de Corea por crear un TLC con México (ver Intel relacionado).

En el acuerdo, operarán dos nuevas líneas de crédito entre los dos países: una de USD 1.000m, para el desarrollo de infraestructura eléctrica; y otra por USD 200m, para el financiamiento de empresas mexicanas que mantengan relaciones con firmas coreanas.
