Lambayeque Region, in the north of Peru, is looking for investors to build 18 dams, aiming to expand its farming borders and ensure larger control over its water resources. According to regional government, the amount needed would be USD 312.84m. Projects will be awarded as concessions to private operators and will irrigate up 150,000ha of barren land in the valleys of Chancay, Zana, La Leche and Motupe, according Acuña. Waiting for investors, the government established a regional emergency infrastructure fund of USD 131m, for 2015, as one of the measures to prepare Peru to climate changes.

La Región Lambayeque, en el norte de Perú, está buscando inversores para la construcción de 18 represas con el objetivo de ampliar la frontera agrícola y garantizar un mayor control sobre los recursos hídricos. Según su gobierno regional, la cantidad que necesitaría ascendería a USD 312,84m. Los proyectos se adjudicarán como concesiones a operadores privados y permitirán a la región regar hasta 150.000ha de terrenos áridos en los valles de Chancay, Zaña, La Leche y Motupe, según Acuña. A la espera de inversores, el gobierno de la región estableció un fondo de infraestructura de emergencia de USD 131m para este año, como una de las medidas de preparación del país andino para los efectos del fenómeno climático. |
