Synopsis |
Ideal (BMV:IDEALB-1), a company engaged in infrastructure projects based in Mexico, and FCC, a multi-sector group of construction segment (BME: FCC), are interested in acquiring the majority stake of Colombia-based Navelena, which is running a project to regain the navigability of the Magdalena River, reported Reuters on 18 October 2016, citing a press release issued by Cormagdalena. Cormagdalena, a government entity in charge of the project, noted that FCC, controlled by Mexico-based Grupo Carso (BMV:GCARSO), and Ideal, a company of Carlos Slim, are interested in the project that will require an investment of USD 857m. They must submit a letter of commitment to US-based investment banking Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS), on 28 October 2016, to finance the project. The agreement will allow Odebrecht, a business group specialized in construction and petrochemicals based in Brazil, to give in 87% stake that holds in Navelena to another company, under extraordinary circumstances (see related Intels).
