The government of the Dominican Republic does not rule out the sale to the private sector of the Punta Catalina thermoelectric plant project, reported El Nacional on 23 August 2016, citing Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales (CDEEE) Vice-President Rubén Jiménez Bichara. Jiménez noted the sale of the plant would be carried out so long as its real cost is observed and not for a lower price. Punta Catalina is a project that entails the construction of a thermoelectric plant that will run on coal.

El gobierno de República Dominicana no descartaría la venta al sector privado del proyecto de la planta termoeléctrica Punta Catalina, ha publicado El Nacional el 23 de agosto de 2016, citando al vicepresidente de la Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales (CDEEE), Rubén Jiménez Bichara. Jiménez ha señalado que la venta de la central se realizaría siempre y cuando se respete el costo real del activo y no por un precio menor. Punta Catalina es un proyecto que supone la construcción de una central termoeléctrica a base de carbón. |
