Government of Sao Tome and Principe will launch an international public tender aiming to adapt the domestic banking system to international cards, reported Sapo 24 on 7 August 2016, citing the Central Bank Governor for Sao Tome and Principe, Maria do Carmo Silveira.

Sao Tome and Principe currently has one domestic payment system that only serves the national system not accepting this way the international cards. The purpose with this new system is to attract more tourists to the country, the report noted.

O Governo de São Tomé e Príncipe vai lançar um concurso público internacional com o objetivo de adaptar o sistema bancário doméstico aos cartões internacionais, segundo publicou o Sapo 24 Horas em 7 de agosto de 2016, citando a governadora do Banco Central de São Tomé e Príncipe, Maria do Carmo Silveira.

De acordo com publicação, São Tomé e Príncipe atualmente dispõe apenas de um sistema de pagamentos doméstico que serve apenas o sistema nacional não aceitando deste modo os cartões internacionais. A intenção com esse novo sistema é atrair mais turistas ao país.
