Glencore (LON:GLEN), a Switzerland-based mining company, may resume the sale of Chile-based hydropower company Energía Austral, reported Diario Financiero on 21 January, 2016. Given the approval of the environmental permit of the Cuervo project, Glencore may consider selling Energía Austral, which drives the construction of a hydropower plant in the Aysén region, in Chile. Glencore is expected to make a decision regarding the sale in the coming days, during the company's board meeting. In previous occasions, the mining company began the process to seek a third partner or sell the business, as part of its plan to divest non-strategic assets (see related intel).

La minera suiza Glencore (LON:GLEN) podría retomar la venta de la empresa hidroeléctrica chilena Energía Austral, según ha informado Diario Financiero el 21 de enero de 2016. Debido a la coyuntura de ratificación del permiso ambiental del proyecto Cuervo, Glencore podría estar estudiando reactivar la venta de Energía Austral, que impulsa la construcción de esta central hidroeléctrica en la Región de Aysén en Chile. Se espera que la minera oficialice la decisión de venta en los próximos días, en el marco de la reunión del directorio de la compañía. Anteriormente, la europea ha iniciado gestiones para encontrar un tercer socio o bien desprenderse de este negocio, dentro de su plan de desinversiones no estratégicas (Ver Intel relacionado). |
