Galmed and OWL to collaborate in medicine manufacture for liver diseases

Israel-based Galmed (NASDAQ: GLMD) and Spain-based OWL signed a collaboration agreement to develop drugs to fight liver diseases, as reported by OWL through a press release published on 29 September 2015. The agreement is based on applying OWLiver, a system developed by OWL to diagnose non-alcoholic invasive liver disease, in a clinical trial on a drug to fight non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The agreement includes an acquisition right over a 19.9% stake in OWL in favor of Galmed, to be executed within a year and half since contract signature.

La empresa israelí Galmed (NASDAQ: GLMD) y la española OWL han firmado un acuerdo de colaboración para desarrollar fármacos contra enfermedades hepáticas, según ha señalado la propia OWL en una nota de prensa el 29 de septiembre de 2015. El acuerdo se basa en la aplicación de OWLiver, un sistema desarrollado por la empresa española para el diagnóstico no invasivo de la enfermedad de hígado graso no alcohólico, en el ensayo clínico de un fármaco contra la esteatohepatitis no alcohólica (NASH, por sus siglas en inglés). El acuerdo también implica la concesión a Galmed de una opción de compra del 19,9% del accionariado de OWL, a ejecutar en un plazo de un año y medio desde su firma. |
