A multinacional suiça Glencore está analisando a aquisição de uma fatia maior na mineradora Ferrous Resources do Brasil, que lhe garanta uma posição forte na governança da empresa. A compra de uma participação maior na Ferrous seria importante dentro do plano da empresa brasileira de expandir a produção de minério de ferro na mina de Viga, em Congonhas (MG), onde prevê produzir 15 milhões de toneladas em 2017. A Ferrous investiu cerca de USD 1bi no Brasil e teria mais USD 1bi previsto em seu projeto de crescimento. A Ferrous, controlada por investidores nacionais e estrangeiros, detém ainda as minas de Santanense, em Itatiaiuçu, e de Esperança, em Brumadinho. Em 2012, a empresa produziu 3,2 milhões de toneladas de minério de ferro, volume previsto para 5 milhões este ano. |
