The businessman Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira and his brother João Pedro are negotiating the acquisition of a majority stake in BR Distribuidora owned by Petrobras (BVMF: ptr3; BME: XPBR; NYSE: PBRA), according to Valor Econômico on 19 July 2016, citing the President of the Rio de Janeiro Federation of Industries (Firjan), Eduardo Gouvêa.

If the plan succeeds, it can mark the return of Gouvêa Vieira family to the fuel distribution market, nearly ten years after the family leaving Ipiranga, in 2007, the report noted.

According to Eduardo Gouvêa, the family is interested in returning to the sector, but that he and his brother have no money to enter the business alone, although he believes that many funds would be interested in joining the Gouvêa Vieira.

De acordo com a notícia, se bem-sucedida, o plano pode marcar o retorno dos Gouvêa Vieira ao mercado de distribuição de combustíveis, quase dez anos após a saída da família da Ipiranga, em 2007.

Segundo Eduardo Gouvêa, a família tem interesse em voltar ao setor, mas que ele e o irmão não têm dinheiro para entrar no negócio sozinhos, mas disse acreditar que muitos fundos terão interesse em se juntar aos Gouvêa Vieira.
