President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, announced an agreement was signed to sell oil to Thailand, reported El Universo on 4 August, 2015. Ecuador's and Thailand's state-owned oil companies reached the agreement in June, under which Ecuador will deliver 116.6m barrels of crude oil in exchange for an up-front payment of USD 2.5bn from Singapore-based crude oil trading company International Trading. Correa said the transaction was convenient for the country. Ecuador's dollarized economy is dealing with the consequences of low oil prices.

El presidente de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, ha comunicado el acuerdo con Tailandia para la venta de petróleo a ese país, según ha informado el diario El Universo el 4 de agosto de 2015. Las petroleras estatales de Ecuador y Tailandia concretaron el acuerdo en junio pasado, por el cual el país entregará unos 116,6 millones de barriles de crudo a cambio de un adelanto de USD 2.500m por parte de la empresa de Singapur, International Trading. Correa ha justificado la operación al calificarla de "conveniente" para el país, cuya economía dolarizada enfrenta los coletazos de los bajos precios del petróleo. |
