El Gobierno de Cuba y la entidad estatal Cubaníquel, dedicada a la gestión de las sociedades que se encargan de la explotación de minas de níquel en el país, están buscando inversores extranjeros, según ha publicado el Diario de Cuba el día 14 de junio de 2016, citando al director de Cubaníquel Eder Oliveros Garcell.

Según la noticia la necesidad de buscar socios fuera de las fronteras de Cuba se debe a que a causa de la caída de los precios del níquel a nivel mundial las sociedades mineras han contraído numerosas pérdidas, pérdidas que pretenden subsanar con la financiación de inversores foráneos.
