Cuba and the United States signed an agreement to re-establish scheduled passenger and cargo flights between the two countries, announced the U.S. department of transportation in a press release issued on 16 February, 2016. After the signing, the department of transportation invited US-based airlines to apply for an allocation of opportunities to provide scheduled passenger and cargo flight services to Cuba. The agreement provides both countries with the chance to operate 20 daily round-trip flights between the United States and Havana, as well as 10 daily round-trip flights to Cuba's other nine international airports.

Cuba y Estados Unidos han firmado un acuerdo para restablecer vuelos programados de pasajeros y de carga entre los dos países, ha anunciado la secretaría de transporte de Estados Unidos en una nota de prensa publicada el 16 de febrero de 2016. Tras la firma del acuerdo, la secretaría de transporte ha invitado a aerolíneas estadounidenses a aplicar para recibir la adjudicación que les permita ofrecer servicio de vuelos programados de pasajeros y de carga a Cuba. El acuerdo le da acceso a los dos países a la operación de 20 vuelos diarios ida y vuelta entre Estados Unidos y La Habana; además de 10 vuelos diarios ida y vuelta a los otros nueve aeropuertos internacionales de la isla. |
