Cuba and the United States are closer to materializing an agreement to reestablish regular direct flights between the two countries, which are carried out through charter flights at the moment, reported Agencia Cubana de Noticias on 10 November, 2015, citing the US general assistant director of the Cuban foreign ministry, Gustavo Machín.

Machín explained that, during a meeting of the Bilateral Commission in Washington, progress was made to sign agreements regarding regular flights, reestablishing direct postal service, environmental protection, and the fight against drugs.

Regarding reestablishing direct flights, he said it is the most advanced topic and added the governments are creating the conditions to carry out the agreement, which will later be implemented by airlines.

Cuba y Estados Unidos están más cerca de concretar un acuerdo para restablecer vuelos directos regulares entre los dos países, que por el momento solo se realizan mediante vuelos chárter, ha publicado la Agencia Cubana de Noticias el 10 de noviembre de 2015, citando al subdirector general de EE.UU. de la cancillería cubana, Gustavo Machín.

Machín ha señalado que, durante la reunión de Comisión Bilateral en Washington, se ha progresado en la suscripción de acuerdos con respecto a los vuelos regulares, el restablecimiento del correo postal directo, la protección del medio ambiente y la lucha con el narcotráfico.

Con respecto al restablecimiento de vuelos directos, ha dicho que es el tema más avazando y ha agregado que los gobiernos están creadon las condiciones para que se lleve a cabo el acuerdo, que luego implementarán las aerolíneas.
