China Harbour Engineering Company, a Beijing-based large infrastructures construction company, will sign an agreement with Kingston, Jamaica-based state-owned University of the West Indies, reported Jamaica Gleaner on 26 August, 2015, citing business development manager for Latam and the Caribbean, Yang Yang.

The agreement has a value of USD 40bn.

Under the contract, China Harbour will double the size of the university's hospital, from a 500-bed capacity to 1,000 beds, build a housing facility for staff, called College Commons and a building with a capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 people, called The Centre. The agreement also includes the development of a three- to four-star hotel in campus, The Mona Visitor's Lodge, and of a co-generation power plant to supply the campus.

Yang noted China Harbour might also become an investor in the project, as well as contractor. He added the company might seek a Public-Private Partnership.

China Harbour Engineering Company, constructora de grandes infraestructuras, firmará un acuerdo con la universidad pública con sede en Kingston, Jamaica, University of the West Indies, ha publicado Jamaica Gleaner el 26 de agosto de 2015, citando al gerente de desarrollo de negocios para Latinoamérica y el Caribe, Yang Yang.

El acuerdo tiene un valor de USD 40.000m.

El contrato estipula duplicar el tamaño del hospital de la universidad, de una capacidad de 500 camas a una de 1.000; la construcción de un edificio de viviendas para empleados, llamado College Commons y de un centro con capacidad para 8.000 a 10.000 personas, llamado The Centre. Además, incluye el desarrollo de un hotel dentro del campus, The Mona Visitor's Lodge, que tendrá entre tres y cuatro estrellas, y de una planta de cogeneración eléctrica para proveer al campus.

Yang ha señalado que China Harbour podría ser inversionista del proyecto, además de contratista. Ha agregado que la empresa buscaría una asocación público-privada.
