Chery Socma, a joint venture between Chinese automotive company Chery and Grupo Socma, owned by Argentine businessman Franco Macri, will close its industrial plant in Uruguay, reported El Observador on 19 May, 2015.

The plant has been inactive since October, 2014. According to the report, the shutdown is a result of the difficult times faced by the automotive industry in Uruguay, which has cut its production in half compared to 2014.

Chery Socma, asociación de la automotriz china Chery y Grupo Socma, del empresario argentino Franco Macri, cerrará su planta industrial en Uruguay, ha publicado El Observador el 19 de mayo de 2015.

La planta ha estado inactiva desde octubre de 2014. Según el artículo, el cierre se debe al momento complicado que enfrenta la industria automotriz uruguaya, que ha recortado su producción a la mitad con respecto a 2014.
