Chery Socma, a joint venture between Chinese automotive company Chery and Grupo Socma, owned by Argentine businessman Franco Macri, will close its industrial plant in Uruguay, reported El Observador on 19 May, 2015. The plant has been inactive since October, 2014. According to the report, the shutdown is a result of the difficult times faced by the automotive industry in Uruguay, which has cut its production in half compared to 2014.

La planta ha estado inactiva desde octubre de 2014.
