The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), a Guatemala-based financial institution, gave a fund to the government of Nicaragua for the power sector in the country, reported Prensa Latina on 29 September 2016, citing Council for Communication and Citizenship Coordinator Rosario Murillo.

Specifically, the financing sum provided by CABEI, in a fund of USD 163m, aims to improve and extend the power service rural areas of Nicaragua.

It is expected that, with the fund, the country will achieve an index of power coverage of 90%, as well as power 86,553 urban and rural homes, with the construction of 623 km of energy distribution networks in several departments of the country.

El Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica (BCIE), entidad financiera con sede en Guatemala, ha otorgado al gobierno de Nicaragua un fondo para el sector eléctrico del país, según ha informado Prensa Latina el 29 de septiembre de 2016, citando a la coordinadora del Consejo de Comunicación y Ciudadanía, Rosario Murillo.

En concreto, el monto de financiación del BCIE, valorado en un fondo de USD 163m, tiene como objetivo mejorar y extender el servicio de energía eléctrica en las zonas rurales de Nicaragua.

Se espera que con el fondo se logre un índice de cobertura eléctrica del 90% y se logre electrificar 86.553 viviendas urbanas y rurales, con la construcción de 623 km de redes de distribución de energía en varios departamentos del país.
