Intel ID : 230057
Synopsis

Baron Oil (LSE:GOO), a UK-based gas and oil extraction company, begins its exit from the Colombian market once the contract with Colombia-based Ecopetrol (BVC:ECOPETROL; NYSE:EC; TSX:ECP) expires, reported Portafolio on 29 September, 2015.

Baron Oil operated Ecopetroloil's field Burdine-Maxine-Nancy, located in Orito, Putumayo, for nine years, and will continue to do so until 16 October, 2015, when the contract expires and the company exits the country.

The decision follows Ecopetrol's strategy to focus its activity on more profitable oil fields.
