Bank of China, a Beijing-based financial entity, requested a banking license from Chilean regulator Superintendencia de Bancos e Instituciones Financieras (SBIF) to open a branch in Chile, announced the SBIF in a press release issued on 7 July, 2016.

Specifically, the China-based entity delivered the request on 29 June. The SBIF noted the submitted prospectus is under analysis.

In Latin America, Bank of China already operates in Mexico, Brazil, and Panama.

Bank of China, entidad financiera con sede en Beijing, ha solicitado una licencia bancaria ante la Superintendencia de Bancos e Instituciones Financieras (SBIF) para abrir una sucursal en Chile, ha anunciado la SBIF en una nota de prensa publicada el 7 de julio de 2016.

En concreto, la entidad china ha entregado la solicitud el 29 de junio. La SBIF ha señalado que el prospecto presentado está siendo estudiado.

En Latinoamérica, Bank of China ya opera en México, Brasil y Panamá.
