Banco de México, Mexico's central bank, announced the resignation of Governor Agustín Carstens in a press release issued on 1 December 2016.

Specifically, Carstens was appointed CEO of the financial institution which groups 60 central banks of the world, Bank for International Settlements (BIS), based in Basel, Switzerland, a position he will assume starting 1 October 2017.

Carsten's resignation will be effective on 1 July 2017.

Banco de México, banco central de México, ha comunicado la renuncia de su gobernador Agustín Carstens en una nota de prensa publicada el 1 de diciembre de 2016.

En concreto, Carstens ha sido designado gerente general de la entidad financiera que agrupa 60 bancos centrales del mundo, Bank for International Settlements (BIS), con sede en Basilea, Suiza, cargo que asumirá a partir del 1 de octubre de 2017.

La renuncia de Carstens será efectiva el 1 de julio de 2017.
