Luís Mira Amaral, Banco BIC Português' president, admits possible acquisition of asset portfolios of foreign banks interested in divesting in Portugal, namely Barclays and BBVA.

BIC Português also has plans to expand. It aims to open subsidiaries in places where it is not present and relocate branches to places with more visibility. Within this context, the bank has seized branches abandoned by its competitors, such as those in Oporto and Angra do Heroísmo.

O presidente do Banco BIC Português, Luís Mira Amaral, admitiu vir a avaliar a compra de redes ou carteiras de activos de bancos estrangeiros interessados em desinvestir no retalho em Portugal, nomeadamente o Barclays ou o BBVA.

O BIC Português tem ainda um plano de expansão, pretendendo abrir mais balcões em sítios em que não estão ainda e deslocalizar balcões para sítios com maior visibilidade. Nesse contexto, têm aproveitado balcões que são desafectados pelos concorrentes bancários, como foi o caso dos balcões no Porto e em Angra do Heroísmo.
