BRAZIL
In September, the Brazilian transactional market was less active than in previous month. The number of registered deals increased 10.6%. Once again, the United States was the country with more acquisitions in Brazil, although a 50% less than average since January. The largest deal this month was the acquisition conclusion of a 60.1% stake in Combás by Cosan, for BRL 3,400bn. The technology and telecoms sector was one of the most active, for the ninth consecutive month, with 11 registered deals. BTG Pactual Participations exercised its option to acquire an extra 30% stake in Leader. The deal value was estimated at BRL 500m. Furthermore, Actis, a UK-based private equity firm, acquired a minority stake in CAN, a languages school, for BRL 135m. Armco Staco acquired Mangels Indústria e Comércio de Aços, for BRL 15m.

LATIN AMERICA
In September, the Latin American transactional market's activity was slightly lower; 45 deals registered, both announced and closed, while in August there were 47. This month, Chile was the most active with 14 deals, followed by Mexico with approximately ten and Colombia with nine. The largest deal was the acquisition closure of a 40% stake in GNL Quintero by Enagas, from British Gas Group. The deal value was USD 356.18m. Highlights include some cross-border deals, mainly between European and Latin American companies. América Móvil acquired a 16% stake in Telekom Austria, for an undisclosed value.
