M&A BRAZIL
Several important deals were recorded in October, even though the month was not as active as September. The Real Estate and Construction and the Services and Distribution sectors were particularly dynamic once again, with a total of nine deals. Highlighted companies this month were Iochpe-Maxion and LPS Imobiliária, which led large acquisitions in their sector.

M&A LATIN AMERICA
In October, Chile particularly buoyant in the Latin-American transactional market. Codelco, a State owned mining company, announced the acquisition of a 49% stake in Anglo American Sur, from Anglo American. The deal value was USD 9.76bn, of which USD 6.7bn were financed with a loan from bank Mitsui. Chile also drew attention with a deal in the mining sector. Sigdo Koppers acquired a 100% stake in Belgium-based Magotteaus Group, for USD 790m. In México, Coca-Cola Femsa closed the acquisition of Grupo Tampico for USD 790m, strengthening its presence in the country's beverage distribution market. In addition, Spanish company Med Atlántico acquired the airline company Mexicana de Aviación for USD 250m. Highlights in the Argentinian insurance sector included the acquisition of Consolidart Art by Galeano for USD 29.4m. The target company was held by the Argentina-based bank BBVA Banco Francés. In Colombia, a major deal was the acquisition of Banco Colpatria by Bank of Nova Scotia, for USD 722.9m.
