According to Transactional Track Record's quartly M&A report, the Latin American mergers and acquisitions market closed the first quarter of 2020 with a decrease in the number of registered transactions and in moved capital, compared to the same period of 2019.

The ranking of analyzed countries, based on the volume of operations carried out in February 2020, is as follows: Brazil comes in first with the highest number of registered deals, followed by Mexico, and then Chile; Argentina and Colombia share the fourth position, and, lastly, Peru is fifth place.

Meanwhile, based on moved capital, Brazil and Chile maintain the same positions, first and third, while Mexico to second place. Argentina is in fourth place, followed by Peru. Respectively Colombia drops to sixth place.

The report also presents a complete and correlational analysis of the most active subsectors in the region, as well as the most noteworthy transactions in the cross-border segment.
