BRAZIL
The Brazilian transactional market, in July, showed a 14.4% decrease in registered deals, both announced and closed, compared to previous six first months' average. The United States acquired more Brazilian companies than other countries, followed by France with 5 deals. USA-based company General Mills made the largest deal of the month; it acquired Yoki, a Brazil-based company for BRL 2,000bn. Highlights include the acquisition by Abril Educação, through its subsidiary CAEP - Central Abril Educação, of a 51% stake in Red Balloon, an English language school for children.  The deal value was BRL 29.6m. Altra Industrial Motion, a Norway-based company, acquired a 85% stake in Brazil-based Lamiflex do Brasil, for BRL 17.4m. Moreover, Myers Industries, a USA-based company, acquired Brazilian company Plásticos Novel, for BRL 55.81m.

LATIN AMERICA
The Latin American transactional activity, in July, was similar to previous month, with some 52 registered deals, both announced and closed. Mexico and Chile were the most active countries followed by Argentina and Peru. The month's largest deal was the sale conclusion of Costco de México by CCM - Controladora Comercial Mexicana to Costco Wholesale, a USA-based company. The deal value was USD 972.08m. Furthermore, Chile registered several large deals. Repsol, a  Spain-based company, sold its subsidiary Repsol Butano Chile to a group of investors, headed by Larraín Vial, for USD 540m.
