June was an extremely busy month in the Iberian transactional market, with the number of deals exceeding the 100 mark.

In Spain, the first semester came to a close with better indicators than in the same period in 2010. Private equity firms were also busy, having generated some 30 deals in June. Spanish companies have generally been dedicated to expanding their business at an international level, especially throughout Latin America. As in previous months private equity investment in Spain has mainly been focused on the technology sector.

Portugal also had an extremely active month of June, a stark contrast with previous months this year. Highlights include ECS Capital's acquisition of Portugal's largest textile group and two project finance transactions announced by EDP Renováveis.
