Highlights in the Spanish market, in December, included the closure of a number of announced negotiations such as the acquisition of Bimbo. Banco de Sabadell acquired CAM after an auction process held by FROB. There were some some 90 registered deals in December, several of them involving restructuring and assets transactions, or refinancing operations.

The Portuguese transactional market was particularly dynamic, in December (a tendency also seen throughout November) with over thirty registered deals. The financial and insurance sector regained its usual activity and there was also a considerable number of capital increase transactions. Also worthy of note was the closure of EDP's privatisation; China Three Gorges won the bid race and acquired a 21.35% stake in the Portuguese company's share capital for EUR 2,693.19m.
