The Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras (BVMF: ptr3, PETR4, PBRA; BMAD: XPBR, XPBRA; NYSE: PBR, PBRA) confirmed the sale of its stake in the petrochemical company Braskem (BVMF: BRKM3, BRKM5, BRKM6) till the end of 2018 to help fund its business plan and reduce debt, reported Exame on 26 September 2016, citing the Petrobras CFO, Ivan Monteiro. According to Ivan Monteiro, Petrobras included the 36% stake, which it holds in Braskem, in a plan to raise USD 19.5bn through divestments in 2017 and 2018. It is currently in the early stage of the sales process. In January 2016, Petrobras announced that it was considering the sale of its stake in Braskem (see related intel).
