The European Union and Mexico confirmed the progress achieved in the meetings of the first round of negotiations for the update of the Free Trade Agreement between the two parties, reported Prensa Latina on 14 June, 2016.

In the first round, held in Brussels is May 2016 (see related intel), the aim was to determine the first guidelines to foster trade and investments, looking to providing the highest level of liberalization between the two regions.

In the next round, to be held in Mexico City in 2H16, the aim will be to discuss the trade of goods, commercial and investment easement, intellectual property rights, and incentives for SMEs.

La Unión Europea y México han confirmado el progreso de las reuniones de la primera ronda de negociaciones para la modernización de un acuerdo de libre comercio entre ambas partes, según ha informado Prensa Latina el 14 de junio de 2016.

La primera ronda, que se ha realizado en Bruselas de acuerdo al primer encuentro en mayo de 2016 (ver Intel relacionado), ha tenido como objetivo determinar las primeras pautas para fomentar el comercio y las inversiones, para aportar el mayor nivel posible de liberalización entre las dos regiones.

La próxima ronda, que tendrá lugar en la Ciudad de México en el segundo semestre de 2016, tendrá como fin discutir el comercio de bienes, facilitación comercial y de inversión, derechos de propiedad intelectual e incentivos a las medianas y pequeñas empresas.
