Japan and Colombia carry out new negotiation round over FTA

A Colombian trade mission is visiting Japan this week to participate in a new five-day negotiation round regarding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, reported El Tiempo on 30 August, 2015, citing the chief international negotiator from Colombia's ministry of trade, industry and tourism, Javier Gamboa. Gamboa noted the issues that could be addressed in the round are access to the goods market and the rules for the trade of goods. However, he added, these issues may not be resolved in this instance. It is expected the FTA will be signed before the end of 2015, but only once the interests of both countries are met.

Una misión comercial colombiana visita Japón esta semana para participar de una nueva ronda de negociación de cinco días para tratar un Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) entre los dos países, ha publicado El Tiempo el 31 de agosto de 2015, citando al jefe negociador internacional del ministerio de comercio, industria y turismo, Javier Gamboa. Gamboa ha señalado que los temas que se tratarían en la ronda serían el acceso al mercado de bienes y las reglas de origen del comercio de bienes, aunque ha añadido que es posible que no queden resueltos en esta instancia. Se espera que la firma del TLC sea antes de fin de año, pero solo una vez que los intereses de ambos países estén satisfechos. |
