According to the news, the company would like to acquire new malls in Brazil, mainly in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where the group is still not present. Despite this ambition, Paulo Azevedo recognizes Brazil's economic crisis "We will go through a pause period in our growth", but Sonae is paying attention to the Brazilian market, in a cautious way. According to Azevedo, the company has EUR 40m in budget for acquisitions.

O Grupo Sonae (Euronext Lisboa: SON), empresa portuguesa com sede em Porto, está atento para novas aquisições de centros comerciais no Brasil, segundo publicou o Económico no dia 30 de maio de 2016, citando ao Presidente da Sonae, Paulo Azevedo. De acordo com a notícia, a empresa gostaria de ter mais centros comerciais no Brasil, especialmente no Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo, onde o grupo não está ainda presente. Apesar dessa ambição Paulo Azevedo reconhece que com a crise brasileira “ vamos passar por um período de pausa no crescimento”, mas que a Sonae está atenta ao mercado brasileiro, mas cautelosa. Segundo o presidente, a empresa tem EUR 40m orçamentado para aquisições. |
