Portucel will announce construction of a factory in South Carolina, USA, and entering a new business sector: wood pellet production. Portucel's president, Diogo da Silveira, is in the United States with World Bank's representatives. In addition, Portucel is working on Cacia factory reconversion, aiming to enter the tissue market. The company wants to become stronger than Renova, using its factory in Aveiro, and lead the European market in paper tissues, paper towels, toilet paper and others. Portucel is market leader in the uncoated paper segment.

A Portucel vai anunciar a construção de uma fábrica na Carolina do Sul, Estados Unidos, e a entrada numa nova área de negócio: a produção de pellets (concentrados de madeira utilizados como combustível). O presidente da Portucel, Diogo da Silveira,está nos EUA reunido com os responsáveis do Banco Mundial. Além deste investimento, a Portucel está a trabalhar, na reconversão da fábrica de Cacia, com o objectivo de entrar o mercado de tissue. A partir da unidade de Aveiro, a empresa liderada por Diogo da Silveira quer destronar a Renova e liderar o mercado europeu de lenços de papel, papel de cozinha, papel higiénico e outros, repetindo a liderança já alcançada no mercado de papel não revestido. |
