France-based Groupe Auchan will strengthen its presence in Portugal, by opening new supermarkets in a franchising regime, as published by Económico on 1 June 2015, quoting Franchising Director, Partnership and Exports, Jaime Lemos.

The company chose Pão de Açúcar brand, and there are already two supermarket working in Ericeira since 29 April.

According to Jaime Lemos, the company will focus on the proximity segment where the group is not present in Portugal. In addition, Lemos points out that with this move the group "shows that the brand continues to invest in the country not only with Jumbo hypermarkets and brand, but also in investing in a segment it did not operate" and "by the end of year, between eight and ten franchise stores will be open, but these will only be chosen after a preliminary study of profitability. Then there is a plan to achieve approximately 80 stores by 2019 ".

A francesa Groupe Auchan vai reforçar sua participação em Portugal com a entrada numa nova área de negócio: a abertura de supermercados em regime de ‘franchising', publicou o Económico em 1º de junho de 2015, citando o Director de Franchising, partenariado e exportação da empresa, Jaime Lemos.

A empresa escolheu a marca Pão de Açúcar e já estão duas superfícies em funcionamento na Ericeira desde o passado dia 29 de Abril.

De acordo com Jaime Lemos, a empresa está apostando na entrada no segmento da proximidade onde o grupo ainda não atuava em Portugal. Além disso, o Executivo ressalta que com estão ação o grupo "demonstra que a marca está a continuar a apostar no País não só através dos hipermercados e marca Jumbo, mas também entrando num mercado onde não estava até agora" e "até ao final do ano estarão entre oito a dez lojas franchisadas em funcionamento, sendo que apenas são escolhidas depois de um estudo prévio de rentabilidade. Depois há um plano para se atingir perto de 80 lojas em 2019".
