The government of Ecuador plans to tender the Sopladora hydroelectric plant for a 30-year period, reported El Nacional on 26 August 2016, citing an announcement by Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa.

Correa announced the country will tender 5% of its hydroelectric production in 2017, but the State will still retain control of the remaining 95%.

El gobierno de Ecuador planea concesionar la central hidroeléctrica Sopladora por un periodo de 30 años, ha publicado El Nacional el 26 de agosto de 2016, citando un anuncio del presidente Rafael Correa.

El ministro de electricidad de Ecuador, Esteban Albornoz, ha señalado que varias empresas han mostrado su interés, pero aún no existen más detalles al respecto.

Correa ha anunciado que el país concesionará el 5% de su producción hidroeléctrica en 2017, pero el Estado retendrá el control del 95% restante.
