The Council of Ministers of the Government of Spain commanded Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) to acquire up to 10% of Spain-based multinational Telefónica [BME:TEF]. The goal of the transaction is to provide Telefónica with greater shareholder stability to allow the company to achieve its goals, and thus, contribute to the safeguarding of its strategic capabilities. The decision comes three months after Saudi Telecom (STC) acquired a 9.90% stake in Telefónica (see related transaction).

El Consejo de Ministros del Gobierno de España ha ordenado a Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) llevar a cabo la adquisición de hasta un 10% de la multinacional española Telefónica [BME:TEF]. El objetivo de la transacción es dotar a Telefónica de una mayor estabilidad accionarial para que la compañía alcance sus objetivos y, por ende, contribuir a la salvaguarda de sus capacidades estratégicas. La decisión se produce tres meses después de que Saudi Telecom (STC) adquiriese un 9,90% de Telefónica (ver transacción relacionada). |
