A empresa Copel dedicada a geração de energia conta no seu plano de expansão com a sua participação do leilão da concessão da usina hidroelétrica Parigot de Souza, de 260 MW, sediada no Paraná. Segundo o presidente da Copel, Luiz Fernando Vianna, a companhia está olhando investir em negócios deste tipo, concessões que têm uma data de vencimento, por meio da sua participação em licitações sempre que o preço-teto seja adequado para empresa. O feito de que a usina da qual pretende atingir concessão seja uma hidrelétrica, tem relação com a intenção da empresa em 2015 de priorizar a realização de investimentos em geração de energias renováveis.
