The Congress of Ecuador approved the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union with 97 votes in favor, reported Gestión on 19 December 2016, citing Ecuador Minister of Foreign Trade Juan Carlos Casinelli.

Specifically, Casinelli noted the next step is for the Ecuadorian executive power to ratify the approval and publish it in the country's Official Gazette.

El Congreso de Ecuador ha aprobado el Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) con la Unión Europea con 97 votos a favor, ha publicado Gestión el 19 de diciembre de 2016, citando al ministro de Comercio Exterior de Ecuador, Juan Carlos Casinelli.

En concreto, Casinelli ha señalado que el próximo paso es que el poder ejecutivo ecuatoriano ratifique la aprobación y sea publicada en el Diario Oficial del país.

El Parlamento Europeo ha aprobado el acuerdo el 14 de diciembre (ver intel relacionado).
