Synopsis

Banco Popular (BME:POP), a Spain-based financial institution, could study the possibility of carrying out the sale of large portfolios of non-strategic assets, reported ABC on 6 December 2016, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, this strategy could be evaluated following the appointment of Emilio Saracho Rodríguez de Torres as chairman of the board (see related intel), given his experience in this type of transactions.

Additionally, the bank may not rule out that selling those non-strategic assets to institutional investors in the future, as well as potential merger strategies.

Banco Popular (BME: POP), entidad financiera española, podría estudiar la posibilidad realizar la venta de grandes carteras de activos no estratégicos, según ha informado ABC el 6 de diciembre de 2016, citando fuentes cercanas al asunto.

Esta decisión se podría evaluar luego de la designación de Emilio Saracho Rodríguez de Torres como presidente del Consejo de Administración (ver Intel relacionado), debido a su experiencia en este tipo de operaciones.

Igualmente, no se descartaría que se realice en el futuro la venta de esos activos no estratégicos a inversores institucionales, así como posibles estrategias de fusión.
