BP, a UK-based oil company, suspended the search for hydrocarbons in Uruguay, effective in October, reported América Economía on 3 August, 2015. BP decided to suspend the search due to the fall in oil prices, which makes it harder to maintain high-risk projects for the industry, explained a representative of Uruguay-based state-owned oil company, Ancap. After investing over USD 100m since 2012 in exploration projects in Uruguay, the multinational will return the three oil blocks in Cuenca Oriental del Plata to Ancap. BP recently said it has cut its expected capital expense for this year to less than USD 20bn.

La petrolera británica BP ha suspendido la búsqueda de hidrocarburos en Uruguay que se hará efectiva en octubre, según ha publicado el diario América Economía el 3 de agosto de 2015. La petrolera BP ha decidido suspender la búsqueda de hidrocarburos en Uruguay, en medio de la caída de los precios del petróleo que hace más difícil sostener proyectos de alto riesgo para la industria, ha explicado un funcionario de la petrolera estatal uruguaya Ancap. Tras haber invertido más de USD 100m desde 2012 en trabajos de exploración en el país sudamericano, la multinacional devolverá a Ancap en octubre los tres bloques que dispone en la Cuenca Oriental del Plata. La compañía británica ha comentado recientemente que ha recortado su gasto previsto de capital para todo el año a menos de USD 20.000m. |
