Activum SG Capital Management, a UK-based investment fund, plans to acquire building Marqués de la Sonora in Malaga, held by Spanish real estate company Salsa Inmobiliaria, a subsidiary of group Mazacruz, as published by newspaper Málaga Hoy on 19 January 2016.

Building Marqués de la Sonora is a palace built in the late eighteen century. It was acquired by Mazacruz ten years ago, aiming to convert it into a five-star hotel. After years with recovery project, with potential acquisition by British investment fund, the idea to turn it into a five-star hotel could be revisited.

With the fund's emergence as a buyer, the procedure opened by the Planning Department to boost a forced sale of the building, due to failure of the recovery project by Salsa, it could be stopped.

El fondo de inversión británico Activum SG Capital Management pretende comprar el edificio Marqués de la Sonora, en Málaga, a la promotora española Salsa Inmobiliaria, filial del grupo Mazacruz, según publica el diario Málaga Hoy el 19 de enero de 2016.

El edificio Marqués de la Sonora, un palacio en su origen a finales del s. XVIII, fue adquirido por la promotora de Mazacruz hace una década, con intención de convertirlo en un hotel de cinco estrellas. Después de años con el proyecto de recuperación parado, con la potencial compra por parte del fondo de inversión de Reino Unido se podría retomar la idea de reconvertir el palacio en un establecimiento hotelero de cinco estrellas.

Con la aparición del fondo como comprador, el procedimiento que tenía abierto la Gerencia de Urbanismo para impulsar la venta forzosa del edificio, debido al incumplimiento del proyecto de recuperación por parte de Salsa, podría verse paralizado.
